Lille

Discover Lille, a town located 50 km from the hotel.  Wander around the pretty streets in the old part of the town and discover the monuments and emblematic sites in the town centre such as the Vieille Bourse and Palais Rihour, the modern arts museum, Saint Sauveur station, Tri Postal (former sorting office) and Palais des Beaux-Arts.  Lille is an architectural feast with strong Flemish influences.  Discover this rich, particularly well conserved heritage on foot from the Grand Place (with Austrian cannonballs still embedded in the facade) to the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille.

Canadian National Vimy Memorial 

The memorial, located on the crest of Vimy, a plot of land ceded by France to Canada, is dedicated to the memory of Canadian soldiers who fought in the battle of Vimy during the First World War from 9 to 12 April 1917.  The site overlooks the Lens plain and was fortified by the German army.  The French and British armies tried to reclaim the site and launched several unsuccessful attacks.  On 9 April 2017, four Canadian divisions arrived as reinforcements and launched an attack.  Several thousand lives were lost, but they managed to take control of the coast on 12 April. 

Louvre Lens

Take the time to visit the Louvre-Lens museum during your stay at the hotel.  Louvre-Lens, the first sister museum to the world famous Louvre museum in Paris, exhibits paintings, sculptures, objects of art and models...  Inaugurated in December 2012 on the the site of pit n° 9 of the Lens mining fields, Louvre-Lens displays objects from the collections of the Louvre Musuem that are lent to the gallery on a medium- or long-term basis.

La Coupole d'Helfaut museum

Located 30 minutes from the hotel, La Coupole is a history and memory centre devoted to the Second World War.  The museum is located in a Second World War bunker built by the Nazis between 1943 and 1944 and used as a base to launch the V2 rockets against London and southern England.  Opened in 1997, the museum retraces the history of the occupation of Northern France and displays Germany's secret weapons.

Cité de la Dentelle 

Located in Calais in an authentic 19th century lace factory, the Cité de la Dentelle was inaugurated on 11 June 2009.  A museum of both fashion and industry, its vast galleries present the techniques, the lingerie and haute couture associated with this prestigious textile, as well as its most contemporary aspects.  Discover the exhibition gallery showcasing great couturiers and renowned young designers such as Balenciaga, Hash, Iris Van Herpen, Dior, Chanel and Givenchy.

La Piscine -  Musée d'art et d'industrie de Roubaix

La Piscine, a museum of art and industry in Roubaix, is well worth a visit.  Located in a former architectural art deco swimming pool built by Albert Baert in 1932, the museum showcases collections of applied art and beaux-arts from the 19th century to the present day.  The most impressive gallery is the one based around the pool.  The 50 m olympic pool was kept as part of the decor and water flows into it from the lion's mouth.  The pool is surrounded by raised areas which form a display section and walkway on the water's edge.

Arras and its Belfry tower

Located 35 km from the hotel, Arras is a town steeped in heritage and charged with emotion.  "The only decor of its kind in Europe", "a Flemish architectural treasure", "a Gothic masterpiece in a baroque setting"...  there is no lack of praise for the architectural treasures in this medieval town.  The Fine Arts Museum and Grand’Place, the belfry tower, the Quartier des Arts with its theatre and Hôtel de Guînes, Saint-Vaast Abbey, the Cathedral, the Art Deco heritage in Rue Gambetta, Rue Ernestale and Rue Saint-Aubert...  there is always something to see or do in Arras.

A day trip to Bethune

Béthune is located 6 km from the hotel. Known as the « cité de Buridan », Béthune is a perfectly preserved town, rich in history and heritage.  Take a stroll around the town and admire the historic heritage in the town centre such as the Belfry tower and its carillon, a symbol of the town's medieval history, the Grand'Place, its cellars and galleries, the Town Hall, les Récollets, a listed "Monument Historique" since 1973, the Kiosque du Jardin Public built in 1875, to name but a few…
